Founded in May, 1950 and located in Bailong (White Dragon) Village of Dongjiang (East River), Wuling District, Changde City Orphanage and Adult Care Center is a comprehensive care center with adult and children sections. It covers 80 mu including 27 mu of residential area, 24 mu of aquatic product, 14 mu of tangerine plants, 6 mu of vegetable garden and 8100 square meters of other buildings. Facility capacity is 115 beds. With 47 employees and 12 temporary caretakers, this center ranks second in size in Hunan Province.
The facilities for adults and orphans are basically complete for providing a good environment for adults and orphans. The visitors have all praised this accomplishment. The coverage of green plants is up to 85%. It has been acknowledged many times for good environment.
Within all these years, the employees work their best to make the old and the young comfortable as much as possible. They especially take special care to the infants and provide them with the best housing, facilities and most experienced staff. They also raise and educate the healthy children and for the disabled children they not only raise and educate them but also give them medical care. With the help of the Changde children's hospital, the disabled children can get operations and other care.
With the help from all walks of life, we searched a way to help ourselves by developing agriculture, forestry, pasture and fishing industries. With the donations from societies, the new children's building was built. Even now with the limited facilities, we believe with the help from government and the other departments that we can overcome all kinds of difficulties to better our service for the needy ones.
